The religious and largest wonderland nestled in the heart of the Punjab state, Amritsar is home to the holiest shrine of Sikhism - the Golden Temple. It is worth spending some time with your family or friends exploring the sprawling complex, but stopping here will be disadvantageous. Amritsar isn’t just about holy places and sacred sites, it is a must-try street food spot in India and also, it is home to a plethora of ancient forts, museums and bustling markets and bazaars. Apart from food and markets, there is Jallianwala Bagh garden and its monument which is devoted to the hundreds of Indians who sacrificed their lives during the world-famous massacre in 1919.

If you are there not just to wander the streets, another fascinating sight which people from around the world fly to Amritsar to see is at the Wagah Border. It is the road border which has been created separating India and Pakistan. As the sun comes down, soldiers of both the countries march with flags in front of the crowds cheering on both sides. Indian history and Sikh culture are collectively shown in every facet of Amritsar - Punjabi food with authentic flavours of local culture is served in various restaurants surrounding Town Hall. If we talk about the weather, it is quite welcoming between November till March - the temperature is mild and climatic conditions are dry.
